Expect heavy traffic: Construction of new Muntinlupa-San Pedro bridge to start on Feb. 1
Motorists can expect moderate to heavy traffic when the construction of a new bridge at the Muntinlupa-San Pedro, Laguna boundary starts on Feb. 1.
The local governments of Muntinlupa and San Pedro advised motorists on a new traffic scheme that will be implemented due to the project.
“Please be informed that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will commence the Replacement of the Muntinlupa-Tunasan–San Pedro Bridge, effective February 1, 2026. Moderate to heavy traffic is expected in the area. Motorists are advised to plan their trips ahead and strictly observe traffic rules and regulations,” the Muntinlupa City government announced.
It said a stop-and-go traffic scheme will be implemented on site and vehicles with six wheels and above will not be allowed to pass and are advised to use the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).
For its part, the San Pedro municipal government said at the start of the construction of the new Tunasan-San Pedro bridge project, half of the bridge will be torn down while the remaining half is for light vehicles.
All northbound Class 2 and Class 3 vehicles will be directed to the SLEX San Pedro toll plaza where the u-turn slot at the Alaska bridge will be removed.
All passenger buses and trucks from Alabang will exit La Marea, pass through Magsaysay Road towards Fr. Masi, USPS and National Highway.
