The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reopened a collapsed section of the Bukidnon-Davao highway in Sitio Kipolot, Barangay Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon, on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the 460-meter gravel road is now at least 90 percent complete.
The reopening allows motorists to travel safely two and a half months after a massive landslide blocked the route.
He credited nonstop 24/7 construction, close coordination with Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, and support from local government units for the swift restoration while ensuring proper use of public funds.
Dizon said the project was completed quickly due to the support of President Bongbong Marcos, local government units, and the province, noting that the highway was reopened in record time.
He was joined by DPWH Undersecretary Lara Esquibil, Northern Mindanao Public Works Director Lillineth Aparecio, Zubiri, Bukidnon Governor Neil Roque, and Quezon Mayor Pablo Lorenzo III during the inspection.
The DPWH said further asphalting, slope protection, and drainage works will be conducted to ensure safer and more comfortable travel for motorists and commuters.
