Tourism-related payments and government procurement are set to move faster and become more accessible as the Department of Tourism (DOT) rolls out a nationwide digital system powered by Landbank of the Philippines.
Under a memorandum of agreement signed on Jan. 13, the DOT will adopt Landbank’s LinkBiz Portal to enable secure, real-time online payments for accreditations, regulatory fees, penalties, and bidding documents.
The department will also institutionalize the Government Purchase Card (GPC) to reduce procurement lead time, lower administrative costs, and strengthen financial oversight.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said the initiative is aimed at bringing government services closer to communities.
“There is so much work that we can do together to help our communities, to give accessibility to financial inclusion, and of course, to tourism digitalization,” Frasco said.
Landbank President and CEO Lynette Ortiz said the streamlined systems will allow the DOT to focus more on its core mandate.
“These improvements will help promote our country, empower tourism enterprises and workers, and welcome the world to our shores,” Ortiz said.
