What does life look like after graduation? Some immediately enter the workforce and build their careers. And for some, gaining additional knowledge and honing their skills in graduate school is the next step. But what people don’t know is that graduate school provides not only additional insights, but it is also a strong foundation for developing professionals who excel in their respective fields.
At Centro Escolar University (CEU), the graduate school strives to foster intellectual independence and leadership among its graduate students by cultivating their scientific, critical, and creative thinking skills, as well as enhancing their research expertise. The different fields of specialization provide intensive training for professionals in specific areas, preparing and producing future leaders and executives through comprehensive studies, fieldwork, and research, and promote a holistic understanding of an individual’s role within society.
The stories of Domingo Reyes Jr. and Dr. Osama Nabil are proof of how their educational foundation at the CEU Graduate School transcends traditional learning. Before becoming experts in their respective fields, Reyes Jr. and Dr. Osama were students who strived for greatness in the CEU Graduate School.
Dr. Osama graduated with a Master of Science in Dentistry in Orthodontics in 2019 after choosing the university for its strong reputation in dentistry, especially in orthodontics. “The university is known for its excellent faculty, advanced clinical training, and commitment to producing top-tier dental professionals. CEU’s well-equipped orthodontic department, along with its emphasis on hands-on experience and research, made it the perfect choice for me,” Dr. Osama shared.
Meanwhile, Reyes Jr. completed his PhD in Higher Education Management in 2019. Before his graduate studies, he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology from CEU in 1984. Coming from a family of CEU alumni, Atty. Reyes Jr. was convinced by his mother and two sisters, who were also proud graduates of the university.

From reliable tools and spiritual support to hands-on practice
More than the knowledge-filled classes that CEU graduate school has provided Reyes Jr. and Dr. Osama the practical training fused with innovative tools, also contributed to the professional skills they have today. CEU graduate school’s quality of education also enabled the alumni to face real-world challenges, helping them towards a progressive career through a foundation of competence and resilience.
“CEU provided state-of-the-art facilities, including fully equipped dental clinics, simulation labs, and digital orthodontic technology such as panoramic radiographs. These resources helped bridge the gap between theory and real-world application,” said Dr. Osama.
Spiritual guidance also helped affirm their drive for academic success during their time at CEU Graduate School. For Reyes Jr., the lessons he carried with him were rooted in adherence to conservative religious traditions, emphasizing the importance of good manners and ethical conduct. “Also, the spirit of a caring and nurturing community. I felt I was well taken care of, especially by my teachers, office staff, and personnel,” he shared.

Inspiring others in the community
Beyond being leaders in their career paths, Reyes Jr. and Dr. Osama both have the heart and willingness to share their knowledge and inspire others to help them become the professionals they dreamed of being. Through CEU’s “solid academic foundation and extensive clinical exposure,” Dr. Osama is now an orthodontist practicing in multiple private clinics in Amman, Jordan.
Meanwhile, before becoming the university president and chief academic officer of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Reyes Jr. appreciated the basic rigor of professional life that the university had taught him. “I would not be the university president that I am today without CEU, the teachers, the personnel who nurtured me, and continued to nurture me even long after I left the hallowed walls of the university,” he mentioned.
As both professionals hold on to these principles, they hope to share them with the younger generation who choose the same path as them.
CEU Graduate School not only taught Reyes Jr. and Dr. Osama the fundamentals that they need in the real-world problems, but also strengthened their commitment to excellence, leadership and service. The university’s mission to be a graduate institution that fosters creative scholarship, intellectual independence, professional expertise, and a strong sense of moral responsibility among leaders and contributors to nation-building and global collaboration prepared the alumni to navigate the hurdles of a rapidly changing world.
The various lessons — both in life and academically — that CEU Graduate School provided its alumni are not only foundations for career growth and success, but allowed for a ripple effect of transformative knowledge that extends to future generations and global progress.
