TACLOBAN CITY – Three-hundred personnel from the Police Regional Office-8 were deployed to reinforce PRO-7 in securing the 461st fiesta celebration of Señor Santo Niño and the Sinulog Festival 2026 in Cebu.
A send-off ceremony was held at the PRO-8 Grandstand in Palo, Leyte on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The contingent was composed of four Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and 296 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs).
Fifty-four were from the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO); 60 from Southern Leyte PPO; 20 from Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO); 20 from Ormoc City Police Office (OCPO); 20 from Biliran PPO; 20 from Regional Mobile Force Battalion-8 (RMFB-8); 105 from the Regional Personnel and Records Management Division-8 (RPRMD-8), and one from Regional Headquarters Support Unit-8 (RHSU-8).
They are part of the security deployment, crowd management, emergency preparedness, and response operations during one of the country’s largest religious and cultural gatherings.
They will be on duty for eight days, subject to operational requirements and further instructions from higher headquarters.
Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, PRO-8 regional director, underscored the importance of inter-regional cooperation.
“I place my full confidence in each officer and expect them to serve with honor, discipline, and unyielding resolve. I urge everyone to remain vigilant, uphold professionalism, and support one another as they ensure the safety of all during this historic celebration.”
