The Filipinos failed to sustain their hot start to the contest as, after drawing the first blood, struggled against the double fighter composition of the Malaysians in the last two games to absorb their first taste of defeat in the competition.
After Oheb simply got his way on the gold lane to neutralize the surprise gold lane Sora pick of SRG, the Malaysians focused on punishing the star carry in the early game to starve him for resources in Games 2 and 3.
Without the late-game carry, TLPH had a hard time overcoming the mid game power spike of the SRG with Filipino import John “Innocent” Banal doing most of the damage on his Sora and Cici gold lane picks.
Innocent, whose savage in Game 1 went for naught, led the charge with a 5-1-10 line on Sora in Game 2 and a 5-2-11 tally in Game 2.
Oheb paced TLPH in the series with his best performance displayed in Game 1 when he collected a 5-2-7 KDA on the Claude pick.
With the win, SRG has now booked its ticket to the knockout stage while TLPH got dropped to the fourth round of the swiss stage.
Though denied of reaching the playoffs on its first try, all is not lost for TLPH as it can still qualify to the next round with a victory against Yangon Galacticos of Myanmar.
