Megaworld serves a fresh slice of city living with The Sugartown
A new gateway for tourism and everyday living in Negros Occidental
As the new year rises, Megaworld opens with a sweet debut in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, unveiling its newest township, The Sugartown.
Spanning 97 hectares along the Bacolod–Silay Airport Road and just five minutes from the airport, The Sugartown becomes Megaworld’s 37th township and its third in Negros Occidental. It follows the launch of Northill Gateway, a 53-hectare estate at the Bacolod–Talisay boundary, and The Upper East, a 34-hectare development in eastern Bacolod City, both only minutes from the new site. Over the next seven to ten years, the company will invest ₱8 billion to bring the township to life.
Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president and CEO of Megaworld, shared how the township is envisioned as a gateway that links Negros Occidental more closely to tourism, travel, and new residential opportunities, noting that “Our vision for this new township in Negros Occidental is to provide new opportunities to help boost tourism in the province. With its close proximity to the Bacolod–Silay Airport, this will be an exciting destination for visitors and tourists, and a vibrant enclave for residential living.”

Planned as a fully integrated mixed-use community, The Sugartown draws from the developer’s decades of building townships designed for everyday living. It will host premium residential projects by the company and its wholly owned subsidiary Suntrust Properties, Inc., alongside commercial and retail developments, a central town center, a dedicated commercial district, and tourism-oriented features set to define the township’s character.
Kevin Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group, Inc., Megaworld’s parent company, echoed this optimism and pointed to the broader momentum shaping the province, adding that “With the Negros Island Region already in place, the future of this province is bright and we have seen the rise of mixed-use developments not just in the capital but also in other towns and cities. Through this new township, our seventh in the Visayas, we are excited how we can further contribute to regional progress especially in tourism.”
