LTFRB issues SCO vs ride-haling firm over sexual harassment on passenger

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) suspended for 30 days the operation of a ride-hailing taxi after its driver was accused of sexually harassing a female passenger.
LTFRB Chairperson Vigor D. Mendoza II said they already identified the driver based on the viral post of a netizen whose friend was the one who was victimized by the Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) driver.
“This is not acceptable. We already issued a show cause order and I will personally monitor the conduct of the investigation of this case. We assure the victim and his family and friends that we will not let this incident pass,” said Mendoza.
In the SCO, the LTFRB suspended for 30 days the operation of the motor vehicle involved, with license plate number DBV-1863, pending the result of the investigation.
The operator was also asked to explain within five days from the receipt of the SCO to explain why the Certificate of Public Convenience issued to the company should not be cancelled or revoked over the incident
In the viral post, the TNVS driver was accused of repeatedly asked inappropriate questions on her female passenger.
During the travel, the driver even suggested rerouting around C5 Road. And not yet contented, the driver even slowed down the vehicle several times while continuously asking inappropriate questions.
According to the netizen who posted the incident, the harassment traumatized the passenger but fortunately, she was able to go home unharmed.
In the same SCO, the driver was also tasked to be subjected to compulsory drug testing by authorized accredited agency of the Department of Health and the Land Transportation Office.
