Caloocan LGU commends young athletes for SEA Games success
Caloocan City Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan led the recognition and awarding of cash incentives to Batang Kankaloo athletes who represented the Philippines at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Mayor Malapitan commended the athletes for their perseverance, discipline, and exceptional performance on the regional stage, noting that their achievements reflect both personal dedication and the growing strength of Caloocan City’s sports development programs.
Among those recognized were bronze medalists Angelo Iñigo A. Ventus, who competed in the Extreme Jetski Mixed Runabout Limited event; Jahn Cyruz P. Asuncion and Ethelmae Jewel Suguitan in short track speed skating; Aljen A. Aynaga in taekwondo; and Katrina M. Garcia, a member of the Philippine Women’s Netball Team.
Also honored were Miel Joaquin Ugaban and Joaquin Federico Mirasol, members of the Philippine water polo team, who played key roles in the country’s campaign in aquatic events at the SEA Games.
“Asahan niyo po na sa ilalim ng ating administrasyon, patuloy nating susuportahan ang mga programang magbibigay ng oportunidad sa mga kabataan na palaguin ang kanilang kakayahan sa larangan ng palakasan (You can expect that under our administration, we will continue to support programs that will provide opportunities for young people to develop their skills in the field of sports),” Mayor Malapitan said.
The mayor assured the athletes that the city government will continue to strengthen sports programs, grassroots training, and youth development initiatives to help discover and nurture future champions.
He emphasized that investing in sports is also an investment in discipline, character, and leadership among the youth.
