3 hurt as tanker carrying glucose syrup overturns in Manila

Three people were reportedly hurt after a tanker truck loaded with glucose to be used in making candies overturned on its side along Ramon Magsaysay Blvd. in Manila early Tuesday morning, Jan. 13.
Based on the initial investigation, the truck was turning right coming from the NLEX Connector going to Ramon Magsaysay Blvd. at around 3 a.m. when its driver allegedly hesitated, causing the vehicle to lose balance and tip over on its side.
Three individuals were given immediate medical assistance by responders from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), including a 25-year-old man who sustained wounds on his knees, a 28-year-old who was sent to the hospital after detecting a deformity in his left shoulder, and a 35-year-old woman who sustained wounds all over her body.
Heavy traffic
The accident caused heavy traffic in the area due to the spilled syrup, making the road surface extremely slippery.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the traffic had stretched for three kilometers as authorities conducted flushing operations in the area.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
