The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested a 41-year-old man in less than three hours after a shooting incident in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City.
The suspect, identified as alias “Ryan,” a resident of Barangay Payatas, was arrested at around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10 following a follow-up operation conducted by personnel of the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13).
According the police report, the shooting occurred at around 8:00 p.m. along Sierra Madre Street corner Majaas Street when the victims were on their way home after visiting their cousin, alias “Ryan”
to discuss a job application.Investigators said the suspect suddenly approached the two from behind and fired at them without any apparent provocation before fleeing on foot.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder and was taken to East Avenue Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
While the other victim was rushed to Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the suspect within the same barangay.
Police records showed that the suspect had previous cases involving illegal drugs in 2019 and a violation of P.D. 1602 in December 2024.
An empty 12-gauge shotgun shell was recovered from the crime scene, police said.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is facing charges of murder and frustrated murder before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
