PATUPAT
POZORRUBIO, Pangasinan – The Patupat Festival was held on Friday, Jan. 9, as part of this town’s founding anniversary and fiesta.
More than 1,000 pieces of patupat were prepared and served by the local government led by Mayor Kelvin T. Chan at the municipal executive building.
Patupat is a traditional rice delicacy in this province classified as kakanin. It is made by cooking glutinous rice with rich coconut milk and brown sugar, giving it a sticky texture and deep caramel flavor.
The partially cooked mixture is wrapped in young coconut leaves or woven coconut fronds, then steamed until fully cooked.
Mayor Kelvin thanked the people for supporting the festival. Also joining the event were former Mayors Artemio Q. Chan and Emma Zosima T. Chan.
