Executive Secretary Ralph Recto (OES)
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that a Cabinet shake-up is imminent.
Recto said this following reports that Marcos is supposedly preparing for his “most extensive Cabinet shake-up” as his ratings suffer.
“At present, there is no impending Cabinet shake-up,” Recto said in a statement on Monday, Jan. 12.
“Speculation about [a] looming revamp does not serve any constructive purpose for the Government or the Filipino people,” he added.
The Palace official said all members of the Cabinet remain focused on their respective mandates and ongoing work.
“As always, all appointees serve at the pleasure of the President, and their performance is subject to constant review by the Office of the President,” Recto said.
“Everyone should remain focused on their jobs for the good of our people,” he added.
Reports claimed that the supposed revamp could affect as many as nine key government agencies, including the departments of Health (DOH); Education (DepEd); Foreign Affairs (DFA); Tourism (DOT); Transportation (DOTr); Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev); and Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is reported to be part of the rester.
Malacañang has previously rejected reports that Christina Frasco would be replaced as DOT secretary with former Philippine Airlines executive Stanley Ng.
The Palace has also denied separate reports that Ted Herbosa would be removed as Health Secretary.
