Final call for Filipino applicants: Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2026/2027

The Hungarian government, in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED), has announced the final call for applications to the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program for the academic year 2026/2027. Filipino students have until Jan. 15, 2026, at 2 p.m. CET to secure one of the 35 fully funded scholarship slots allocated to the Philippines.
Since its launch, the Stipendium Hungaricum has become a cornerstone of academic cooperation between Hungary and the Philippines. To date, more than 142 Filipino graduates have returned home, contributing to national development in critical fields such as sustainable agriculture, medicine, and water management.
“This is a life-changing opportunity for Filipino talent to gain a European degree in a culture steeped in innovation,” said the Directorate for Study in Hungary. “With tuition, housing, and insurance fully covered, students can focus entirely on their academic and personal growth.”
Priority fields of study for the Philippines include agriculture and sustainable development (food security, smart farming); medicine and health sciences (public health, clinical studies); engineering (water management, hydrology, info-communications); natural sciences (environmental studies, quantum technology); and architecture (protection of cultural heritage).
The application timeline is as follows: Jan. 15, 2026, at 2 p.m. CET, final deadline for online applications; February 2026, nomination by CHED; March to May 2026, entrance examinations by Hungarian universities; June 2026, final selection and notification of results; July 2026, visa application, free for all awardees; and September 2026, start of the academic year in Hungary.
Applicants must prepare the following documents: a completed online application form in English; a motivation letter, minimum one page, Times New Roman, 12-point font; proof of language proficiency in English or Hungarian; academic transcripts and diplomas, with translations if required; a medical certificate, to be uploaded later, preparation advised; and a portfolio for art and design applicants only.
Applications must be submitted through the official online portal and simultaneously forwarded to the CHED International Affairs Service via [email protected].
With full financial support, including tuition, housing, stipends, and medical insurance, the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship offers Filipino students a rare chance to pursue higher education in Hungary while immersing themselves in a vibrant European academic and cultural environment.
For aspiring scholars, this is the final opportunity to apply and join a growing network of Filipino graduates making an impact both at home and abroad.
