Dump truck crashes into houses in Antipolo

Residents of Barangay Mambugan in Antipolo City, Rizal, were horrified when a dump truck loaded with soil crashed into two houses along Sumulong Highway on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Based on the police report, the truck driver was probably speeding before losing the truck's brakes, subsequently losing control of the vehicle and hitting the two houses. 

He and his passenger allegedly escaped from the incident, as both of them are nowhere to be found at the scene, Antipolo City Office of Public Safety and Security Motorcycle Unit official Roman De Guzman said.

Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident as the houses' occupants were outside their homes when it happened.

According to one of the homeowners, she and her grandchild were outside of their house as it was the child's birthday.

The Antipolo City local government impounded the dump truck, while the police are now looking for its occupants.

Once identified, the dump truck driver will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
