The Cavalry took control of the contest on the first Lord fight and never looked back from there as they reasserted their mastery of the Northern Lights, the same team they defeated to claim the MPL Philippines Season 16 crown.
Alston “Sanji” Pabico starred the show for Team Liquid, allowing his team to seize map control behind the mobility provided by the Diversion ultimate of his Luo Yi pick.
Still, it remained a see-saw battle in the first 10 minutes with Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto securing most of the major objectives in the early game.
The scale, however, tipped to the side of TLPH after the first Lord dance where the MPL champions secured a four-man wipe of Aurora, as a response to Demonkite securing the Lord.
It was a stampede from there for TLPH as it took down Aurora towers one after another. A perfect setup from Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya’s Alice that Jan “Domeng” Del Mundo’s Karrie in the last Lord siege allowed the Cavalry to take down the base turret.
Sanji put up a perfect 2-0-9 tally on his Luo Yi while Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno was equally dominant on the jungle Yi Sun Shin with a 7-1-6 line in the dominant 13-3 win.
Up next for TLPH is Team Falcon on Saturday, Jan. 11.
