Security guard arrested for robbing Australian man's unit in Makati condo
Authorities arrested a condominium security guard in Makati City after he voluntarily surrendered for his alleged involvement in a robbery at a unit occupied by an Australian national, during which several luxury items and pieces of gold jewelry were stolen.
The Makati City Police Station said the victim reported the incident to them on Jan. 3, after noticing that some of his belongings were missing.
According to the victim, upon returning to the condominium after a vacation in Batangas, he realized that some of his personal belongings were missing from the master bedroom of his unit, located on the 23rd floor.
His missing stuff included an iPhone 17 Pro Max, a Cartier wristwatch, two indoor CCTV cameras, an iPhone 6s Plus, and various pieces of gold jewelry.
Following his report, authorities immediately conducted a thorough investigation in proper coordination with the Security Department of the condominium for possible identification of the suspect.
On Jan. 6, the operations manager of the said condominium reported and turned over one of their security guards, known as "Crizaldo,” to the Investigation and Detection Management Section (IDMS) of Makati CPS, after he voluntarily surrendered himself and verbally admitted his guilt regarding the crime.
During the interrogation, police said the suspect admitted his involvement in the crime and surrendered certain stolen items, including two iPhones and several pieces of gold jewelry, which led to his arrest.
Authorities said a robbery case under Article 299 of the Revised Penal Code was filed against the suspect before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office.
The Makati CPS said this achievement highlights its strong commitment to ensuring that everyone responsible for a crime is held accountable.
“The unwavering commitment of the Makati PNP to public safety underscores its vital function in safeguarding our community. These achievements reflect our initiatives and represent the tangible advantages that lead to enhanced security and increased peace of mind for all,” it said.
