Jennie, G-Dragon, Stray Kids win grand prizes at 40th Golden Disc Awards

BLACKPINK’s Jennie, G-Dragon of Big Bang and Stray Kids won the grand prizes (“daesang”) at the 40th Golden Disc Awards held on Jan. 10 at Taipei Dome in Taiwan. 

Jennie is the first recipient of the Artist of the Year (aka Artist Daesang) award, which was added this year. It is given to artists who have distinguished themselves in the global music industry. 

"I sincerely thank the Golden Disc Awards for giving me such a grand award. It is even more meaningful to be here in the year of my 10th debut anniversary, and I am happy because I feel like I am one step closer to my dream. I sincerely thank all my fans, and I will continue to become a Jennie who makes great music,” she said. 

She also won Digital Song Bonsang (Main Prize) and the Golden Impact Award with Prizm, while BLACKPINK won Digital Song Bonsang. 

Stray Kids, winner of the Album of the Year (Album Daesang), said, "We never dreamed that we would be giving a grand prize acceptance speech at the Golden Disc Awards. Receiving the main prize was our goal and dream, so we are truly grateful for such a big award.” 

G-Dragon won the Song of the Year (Digital Daesang) for "Home Sweet Home" (featuring Taeyang and Daesung). 

He was unable to attend the ceremony but in a video message, he said, "I sincerely congratulate the 40th anniversary of the Golden Disc Awards. I think it is even more meaningful to receive the meaningful Song of the Year as my first award this year. I would like to thank VIPs [Big Bang fans] and all the fans who always support us. I will return this year with the Big Bang members."
