Around P5.7 million worth of shabu was seized by anti-narcotics agents following the arrest of five suspects linked to the supply of illegal drugs in Camotes Island, Cebu City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) stated.
PDEA 7 Regional Director Joel B. Plaza said the suspects with aliases Raji, Clint, John, Ren, and Harold were collared at around 2:20 p.m. in Sitio Regla, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu on January 8.
During the operation, authorities confiscated 10 packs of suspected shabu weighing around 775 grams, buy-bust money, three cellular phones and other non-drug pieces of evidence.
“The pieces of drug evidence have been submitted to the PDEA 7 Regional Office Laboratory for chemical analysis and proper disposition while the suspects are temporarily held at the PDEA 7 detention facility in Lahug, Cebu City,’’ Plaza noted.
Plaza said that the sale of dangerous drugs, regardless of quantity and quality, carries with it the maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of P500,000 to P10 million.
