Gwyn Dorado grateful for her experience on Korean TV show 'Sing Again 4'
Filipino singer Gwyn Dorado said she is grateful for the experience and to the people she met while participating as a contestant on JTBC’s Korean TV show “Sing Again 4.”
Dorado bagged second place in the finals held on Jan. 6 while Lee Oh-wook was declared the winner.
“Sing Again” is a music audition TV show that gives singers a second chance to sing again on stage.
The judges for "Sing Again 4" were Lim Jae-beom, Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young, Kim Eana, Kyuhyun of Super Junior, Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation, Lee Hae-ri and Code Kunst.
Dorado will be part of the “Sing Again 4” nationwide concert tour happening in February in South Korea. She and the other top six contestants will also appear on the TV show “Knowing Bros.”
“Sing Again 4 has ended...But for me, it feels like a new beginning. Honestly, when I first started this journey, I had a lot of worries,” Dorado posted on Instagram.
“Thoughts like, ‘Are my Korean skills good enough?’, ‘What if I make a mistake?’, and ‘Will people like me?’ kept popping into my head. But then a door opened, and I decided to just go for it. I decided to take it one step at a time, day by day. Neither I nor anyone else could have imagined this journey would lead me this far. The results are important, but I'm even more grateful for the people I met through Singer Again 4, the connections I made with friends and family,” she said.
“Sing Again 4” started with 81 contestants and Dorado wowed the judges with her impressive singing that led her to become one of the top four finalists.
“‘Sing Again’ was the stage that allowed me to visualize the scenes I'd always dreamed of. Honestly, I've always lived each day with the same dream in mind. While preparing for ‘Sing Again,’ I focused on remaining true to myself, doing my best each day. I remained the same, but when I opened my eyes, I realized there were more and more people who cared about me and cared for me. I think I've come this far thanks to those who thought of me as their own, even when times were tough,” said Dorado.
In the finals, her performance of “Light Up” earned her a whopping score of 799 out of 800 from the judges, the highest in the show’s history. Seven of them gave her perfect scores of 100 while one gave her 99.
The judges’ score, which accounted for 30 percent of the criteria, showed Dorado earning the No. 1 rank.
From the first time that she sang in front of the judges in October until the finals, Dorado amazed the judges with her powerful voice.
“I'm so grateful for your constant support. It was such an amazing and overwhelming moment, receiving advice from the senior judges I'd only ever seen on TV. I learned so much. I'll cherish the kind words and advice you gave me for a long time. I'm also so grateful to the staff who were always with me and caring for me,” said Dorado.
For the finals, her family flew from the Philippines to South Korea to watch the live show.
“My family, who always seemed to be by my side even though we were far apart, thank you so much for coming to cheer me on. Mom, Dad, and all the idols, I love you!!” she said.
She also thanked her agency, AO Entertainment. After the show, Dorado and five others signed a two-year contract with Music Farm agency.
“AO Entertainment family, the times we spent together creating songs and preparing for the stage were truly special to me. I especially thank God for making all of this possible,” she said.
Dorado said, “Without you, Singer No. 59, Dorado would have been meaningless. Thank you for accepting me and recognizing Dorado. Let's continue to create more memories together through great music! Goodbye ‘Sing Again.’ Goodbye, No. 59.” wyn Dorado grateful for her ‘Sing Again 4’ experience
