Authorities said the minor, a Valenzuela City resident, climbed onto the mall’s roof deck on Gulod Street at around noon and appeared ready to jump, prompting an immediate response from police, fire, and emergency medical teams.
Police said the teenager appeared emotionally distressed while standing on the roof. Officers engaged him in conversation to calm him down, while another officer carefully moved closer.
With the help of other responding personnel, the minor was eventually pulled away from the edge and brought to safety.
Barangay officials and concerned residents also assisted during the operation, which was declared successful at around 1:11 p.m.
The teenager was assessed on site by emergency medical personnel and later turned over to the Barangay Social Welfare and Development Office for further care and support.
Authorities said the incident underscored the importance of close coordination among police, fire, and emergency responders in handling emergencies involving persons in distress, and highlighted the need for greater public awareness of mental health concerns and seeking timely help.
