Razon's Manila Water adds 19,421 connections as network expands
Razon-led east zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. continues to ramp up its service expansion, recording a total of 19,421 new water service connections until the end of November.
In a statement on Friday, Jan. 9, Manila Water said that this latest surge brings the company’s total connections to 1,213,213 across the East Zone concession area since it began operations in 1997.
To support this growth, the concessionaire’s water supply network was extended by 92.59 kilometers during the same 11-month period, bringing the total pipeline length to 5,656.23 kilometers.
This extensive infrastructure, coupled with a non-revenue water (NRW) level averaging below 15 percent, allows Manila Water to maintain consistent, 24/7 service for its customers.
The company’s NRW performance—which tracks water lost to leaks and illegal connections—remains at par with benchmarks in developed nations.
Keeping these figures low is considered critical to sustaining operational efficiency and ensuring a reliable supply for the more than 7.8 million people served by the company.
“Our sustained expansion and operational efficiency reflect Manila Water’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable water service to every customer. Maintaining low non-revenue water levels and investing in a strong pipeline network allow us to ensure 24/7 water availability while supporting the growing needs of our communities,” said Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water corporate communication affairs director.
Moving forward, the company remains committed to further expanding its water service network and enhancing operational efficiency through continued investments in infrastructure and innovative technologies.
The East Zone includes Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, most parts of Quezon City, and portions of Manila and Parañaque. The towns of Angono, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililia, Rodriguez, Tanay, Taytay, Teresa, San Mateo, and Antipolo in the province of Rizal are also part of the service area.
Serving a growing population in these regions, Manila Water said it aims to ensure a sustainable water supply to support the increasing needs of communities across Metro Manila and Rizal. (Gabriell Christel Galang)
