NBI gets 3 vehicles from German Federal Criminal Police
The German Federal Criminal Police, through the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, donated three vehicles to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in the fight against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).
Last Jan. 6, the two institutions signed a deed of donation that marked their strong bilateral cooperation and partnership.
Donated were one Mitsubishi Montero and two motorcycles which the NBI will use in its OSAEC-related operations.
The signing of the deed of donation was led by NBI Director Angelito DLP. Magno and Dr. Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke, ambassador of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Both officials expressed hopes for their continued collaboration as they affirmed their commitment to fostering meaningful and sustainable partnerships.
The United Nations Children’s Fund-Philippines said that a study conducted revealed that two in 10, or around two million internet-using children in the Philippines aged 12 to 17 had experienced OSAEC in 2024.
However, the study revealed that only less than three percent reported the incidents to the authorities.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) reported a drop in cyber tip reports from the Philippines from over 2.7 million reports in 2023 to just over 1.7 million in 2024.
