The procession of the Andas of Jesus Nazarene slowed on Friday, Jan. 9, as several devotees continued to climb onto the carriage and merge into the procession from the opposite direction despite repeated warnings from church marshals and authorities during Traslacion 2026.
Officials said the violations caused temporary delays along parts of the route, prompting security personnel to repeatedly intervene to pull down devotees and restore the flow of the procession.
Announcements reminding participants to refrain from climbing the Andas and moving against the procession flow were issued over loudspeakers.
Authorities reiterated that both actions are strictly prohibited due to the risk of injuries and disruption to the movement of the Andas, especially amid the dense crowd.
Church and security officials appealed to devotees to observe discipline and cooperation as the Traslacion continues.
