77 devotees receive medical care as Traslacion 2026 starts
A total of 77 individuals were given urgent medical care by emergency responders during the start of this year's Traslacion as of 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, according to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
In this number, 55 patients were helped by deployed PRC medical teams across the Traslacion route, including 31 whose blood pressures were monitored, 21 minor cases, two major cases, and one patient who was quickly brought to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, 17 individuals were provided assistance under its Welfare Desk, including 11 who received psychological first aid, five given immediate psychological action, one brought to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), two given first aid at its Emergency Field Hospital (EFH), and two helped by the PRC's Safety Service.
Meanwhile, the agency also assisted a devotee to contact his family during the event.
"Ang Philippine Red Cross ay patuloy na nagbabantay at nagbibigay ng agarang tulong para sa Kapsitahan ng Poong Nazareno (The Philippine Red Cross continues to monitor and provide immediate assistance during the Feast of Jesus Nazareno)," the PRC said.
According to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office's (DRRMO) latest crowd estimate as of 8:00 a.m., more than 210,000 devotees are now at Ayala Blvd. as the Andas of the Jesus Nazareno nears Ayala Bridge.
