Two arrested for illegal notarial services in Pasay

Two individuals were arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal notarial services during an entrapment operation conducted by the Pasay City Police Intelligence Section on Jan. 6.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspects as alias “JC,” 41, a clerk, and alias “Ina,” 60, a secretary, both residents of Sicaba Street, Barangay Saint Peter, Quezon City. They were apprehended on Pasadena Street in Barangay 70, Pasay City.
De Sesto said another suspect, alias “JM,” 59, a resident of FB Harrison Street, Pasay City, managed to evade arrest and is now the subject of a follow-up operation.
The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by Oscar, a legal staff member and representative of Atty. Joel Paner, together with a certain Nika. They sought assistance from Pasay City Police Substation 3 regarding alleged illegal notarial activities.
According to De Sesto, the suspects were allegedly offering notarial services near Pasay City Hall using the name and Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) number of Atty. Paner. They allegedly forged his signature without his consent, charging a fee of P200 per document.
Recovered from the suspects during the operation were the P200 entrapment money, a rubber stamp, a stamp pad, a dry seal, and several notarized documents bearing the name of Atty. Paner.
The suspects were detained at the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) custodial facility.
They were charged with violation of Articles 171 and 172 of the Revised Penal Code, or forgery and falsification of public documents.
