ILOILO CITY – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has approved a 10-day gun ban for the Dinagyang Festival that will have its weekend highlight from Jan. 23 to 25.
Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFORs) will be suspended from 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 15 to 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 25.
The gun ban was proposed by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) under Police Col. Kim Legada.
The gun ban was endorsed by the Police Regional Office-6 headed by Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan.
Only police officers, as well as personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), are allowed to carry firearms during that period.
