BACOLOD CITY – A 29-year-old laborer lost his left hand after he was hacked by his cousin during a dispute over electricity in Sitio Balogo, Barangay Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Police Major Ryan Villasario, Moises Padilla police chief, said the victim Jeneven was at home when the suspect, 43-year-old Rico, who was reportedly drunk, arrived.
Rico confronted the victim who stepped outside to diffuse the situation but he was hacked twice in the left arm and hand with a cane cutter.
Patrolling police officers noticed the commotion and discovered the victim injured and crying for help with a severed hand.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he is recuperating.
The suspect was arrested and is facing frustrated homicide charges.
