Teng provides spark as SMB gets back at Ginebra in Game 2

But a different player, although boasting the same scoring punch, emerged from the Beermen’s supporting cast in Game 2.
Jeron Teng provided the spark as San Miguel got back at Ginebra, 93-84, to level the best-of-seven semifinals series in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
With the Beermen trailing for the most part of the contest, the veteran wingman breathed life to SMB’s cause, firing all of his 13 points in the second half to spearhead a huge fourth quarter breakaway.
Not seeing action in the series opener and in the first half of Game 2, Teng added five rebounds and three assists to lead the bench mob for the Beermen, who once again rode on the broad shoulders of big man June Mar Fajardo.
The 6-foot-10 center posted 21 points and 23 rebounds to follow up his 27-point, 23-rebound performance in Game 1 while Trollano bounced back from a dismal showing last time out with 12 points.
Jericho Cruz and CJ Perez chipped in 11 apiece while Marcio Lassiter also fired the same output, built on three triples he buried during a crucial 13-4 spurt that allowed SMB to come within one, 52-53 late in the third.
Stephen Holt and RJ Abarrientos paced Ginebra with 18 apiece and combined eight three-point conversions.
They, however, found no answer to SMB’s 14-6 rally in the final frame as the Beermen stretched their lead to 11, 88-77.
