The Southern Police District (SPD) has deployed 1,500 personnel to ensure public safety during the procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno in Manila.
Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo, SPD director, said the deployment aims to secure key areas and routes to guarantee the safety of devotees and the orderly conduct of the religious procession.
Arceo said SPD personnel have been strategically positioned across three critical segments of the procession route to prevent untoward incidents and provide immediate response when necessary.
A total of 500 SPD personnel were assigned to secure Segment 7, covering Arlegui Street to Duque de Alba and up to Castillejos Street. Another 500 personnel will be deployed to man Segment 8, which spans from the corner of Arlegui and Nepomuceno to Carer/Fr. Hidalgo. The remaining 500 personnel will secure Segment 9, covering the San Sebastian/Bilibid Viejo area up to Gonzalo Puyat Street, thereby completing the full deployment.
The SPD said the overall force consists of 17 Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and 1,483 Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs), all directed to implement strict security protocols, maintain high visibility, and ensure rapid intervention in case of emergencies during the religious event.
Arceo highlighted that the deployment underscores the SPD’s commitment to proactive policing, community protection, and public service.
He urged all personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights while performing their duties.
