Randy “Adam” Lawyer, the American husband of Melanie Marquez, denied the claims of physical abuse made against him by the international beauty queen.
On Jan. 5, Marquez shared she suffered trauma due to the alleged abuse by her husband during an appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on GMA Network. She also claimed to be "abducted" and was taken to a mental facility.
Lawyer gave his statement to Abunda's team via email, stating that the allegations were not valid. His full statement read:
"Our client, Mr. Adam Lawyer, categorically denies with the strongest terms the allegations thrown against him.
“This is nothing but an act of harassment suffered by our client; an act of defamation on the part of Ms. Melanie. Ms. Marquez has a notorious history of hurling ostentatious, fabricated claims of abuse at Mr. Lawyer every single one previously investigated and dismissed as baseless and unfounded by the appropriate authority/ies and forum/s.
"The case Ms. Marquez mentioned in the interview that she previously filed against [Mr. Lawyer] was dismissed by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati (NPS No. XV-05-INV-22K-3036), and did not even reach the court of [law].
"This latest stunt is nothing short of malicious harassment, designed to inflict severe reputational damage, emotional distress, and professional harm on our client. Mr. Lawyer will address the particularities of the Ms. Marquez's accusation against him before the Bureau Of Immigration, the proper forum," the statement said.
The Marquez team has not reacted to Lawyer's statement.
Lawyer and Marquez, who have been married for more than 20 years, share two sons, Adam Jr. and Abraham. The actress also has four other children from her previous relationships, including actress and beauty queen Michelle Dee. Melanie is also the aunt of beauty queen-actress Winwyn Marquez.
