LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) said Wednesday that the suspect in the killing of a woman whose body was allegedly stuffed in a megabox (storage box) and dumped from a bridge in Barangay Pinagwarasan, Basud, Camarines Norte, is now in police custody.
The suspect, 35, surrendered to the Camarines Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit in Barangay Poblacion B, Rosario, Batangas on Wednesday, according to PRO-5 Director Police Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda in a statement.
The suspect was later turned over to the Cabuyao Component City Police Station in Laguna for further investigation and legal proceedings.
In a statement, Miranda commended police units from PRO-5 and PRO 4-A for their coordination and dedication, saying their efforts led to the swift identification and arrest of the suspect.
He thanked the public, particularly concerned netizens, for sharing information that helped authorities locate the suspect, noting that public cooperation plays a key role in solving crimes.
“We assure the public and the victim’s family that the filing of appropriate charges will be expedited. PRO-5 will ensure that this case is pursued with diligence and in full accordance with the law to deliver justice.”
He condoled with the victim’s family and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to seek justice. (PNA)
