Taguig police arrested two men who were later identified as the suspected pickpocket and his companion, both caught on video victimizing a man in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Jan. 5.
The victim, using the username Miarvivi, posted on Reddit the photo of the pickpocket and his companion.
“My wallet was stolen today in BGC 40th avenue. Does anyone know this person? I'll give a substantial 5 digit reward. I've already gotten a police report and they are requesting for CCTV footage but I need help identifying the person,” he posted.
He added, “I have enough evidence to prove the crime that was commited I just need your help. The wallet was given to me by my late mother and I really need it back. It barely has any money because all my payments are through credit cards anyway.”
The two were arrested by Taguig police on Jan. 7 for separate violations.
The suspects, with the surnames Tenio and Villaruel, were identified by the Taguig police
They were apprehended by Sub-Station 1 officers during a foot patrol. They were caught in the act of illegal gambling. A body search led to the recovery of two sachets of suspected shabu weighing 3.21 grams.
The police will file a complaint against them for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
The two were later confirmed to be the men who victimized the man in BGC. The Taguig police said they have contacted the victim and coordinated with investigators for the filing of an additional criminal complaint for theft against the suspects.
