ICI Executive Director Brian Hosaka
Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) Executive Director Brian Hosaka said Wednesday, Jan. 7, there is still no information on the possible disbandment of the body, which is now left with one remaining commissioner.
"We have not received any information or notice regarding this matter from Malacañan," he said.
Hosaka's response to reporters came after Senator Imee Marcos claimed having received information that ICI is set to be "disbanded" on Feb. 1 following the successive resignations of former commissioners Rogelio "Babes" Singson and Rossana Fajardo on Dec. 15 and 31, respectively.
The last remaining commissioner is retired Supreme Court associate justice Andres Reyes Jr., who is also the body's chairman.
Established upon Executive Order No. 94, ICI managed to make eight referral cases to the Ombudsman following three-months long investigation into the anomalous flood control projects.
Its probe led to the freezing of more than P20.3 billion worth of assets, including 6,538 bank accounts, 255 motor vehicles, 178 real properties, 16 e-wallet accounts, three securities accounts, and 11 air assets, such as jets and helicopters.
It also led to the arrest of contractor Sarah Discaya, wife of another controversial contractor, Curlee, and a dozen more individuals, who were mostly staff of construction firms and employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
