In an interview, Marcos told reporters that she would be “surprised” if no second impeachment complaint is filed, citing what she described as the political climate surrounding the 2026 national budget and lingering threats from various groups to refile charges against the Vice President.
“Feb. 6 is the reckoning date for a second impeachment against VP Sara,” she said.
Marcos repeatedly raised questions about the 2026 budget, which she has previously criticized as a “giniling” or minced pork budget, suggesting that large allocations for various forms of assistance and infrastructure projects could be linked to political objectives, including impeachment.
She questioned why funds were allocated to various financial aid programs, including Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), as well as multiple farm-to-market roads (FMRs).
“Bakit hindi na lang sundan yung mga plano at bigyang diin yung MUP—yung military and uniformed personnel, yung mga pensyon na kinaltasan, yung pensyon at benepisyo ng ating mga employees sa gobyerno (Why not just follow the plans and prioritize the MUP—the military and uniformed personnel—the pensions that were cut, and the pensions and benefits of our government employees?),” Marcos said, noting that these were instead reduced to fund assistance programs.
Asked where she stands on the issue and whether she continues to support the Vice President, Marcos replied that she would be a senator-judge if the complaint reaches the Senate as an impeachment court.
Marami pa at very speculative pa tayo at this point," she added.
Marcos also addressed questions about her social media post referring to the budget, in which she suggested that the budget was designed to kickstart the impeachment process against Duterte.
When asked whether soft pork allocations, such as AICS and MAIFIP, were intended to secure congressional support for impeachment, Marcos said there have been no discussions yet on the matter.
“It’s entirely speculative. Ang akin lamang bakit nagsasantabi ng sangkatutak na ayuda e wala nang national election?...Tulad ng sinabi ko, wala mang pruweba, nagiging malisyoso ka na eh. Kasi pag nag-iipon ka, nagtatabi ka ng sangkatutak na pera, para saan yun? Magtatanong ka talaga (I’m just asking why such a huge amount of assistance is being set aside when there is no longer a national election...As I said, even if there’s no proof, it naturally starts to look malicious, because when you stockpile and set aside a massive amount of money, you really have to ask: what is it for?)," she said.
“I believe that the suspicion necessarily will arise malicious and unproven, perhaps that all these monies are being set aside for a sinister and political purpose,” she added.
"Kung impeachment ba yun, yung BARMM election ba yun o yung barangay election, parang pulitika ang pinag-iipunan (Whether it’s for impeachment, the BARMM elections, or the barangay elections, it seems like the money is being stockpiled for political purposes)," she said.
