If you receive from House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III a text message requesting that you give financial help, beware--it's a scam.
Speaker Dy's posted on Tuesday, Jan. 6 a "scam warning" to inform Facebook followers and the public in general about posers who are up to no good.
"BABALA SA SCAM: Mag-ingat po. Si Speaker Dy ay HINDI kailanman magpapadala ng mensahe o tatawag upang humingi ng pera o anumang tulong pinansyal (SCAM WARNING: Please be careful. Speaker Dy will NEVER send a message or call to ask for money or any financial assistance)," the post read.
"Kung may mag-text o mag-message sa inyo na nagpapakilalang Speaker Dy at humihingi ng pera, ito ay panloloko (If someone texts or messages you claiming to be Speaker Dy and asking for money, this is a scam)," it underscored.
The post added: "Huwag pong magpadala ng pera at agad itong i-report sa aming opisyal na Facebook page. Maging mapanuri. Huwag magpaloko (Do not send money and immediately report it to our official Facebook page. Be vigilant. Do not be deceived)."
A sample text message that came with the post showed the scammer partly conversing in Ilokano with the victim.
Dy, who became House Speaker in September 2025, represents Isabela's 6th district. He is the fourth highest-ranked official of the land.
