ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Bureau of Fire Protection logged 536 fires here in 2025.
Senior Fire Officer 3 Garry Fernandez, BFP-Zamboanga City Intelligence and Investigation chief, said 149 were categorized as structural and 387 were non-structural.
Damage to property was placed at P80,883,250.
Twenty-four were injured and a two-year-old toddler was killed.
The biggest was in a department store at the Central Business District. Property damage was pegged at P16 million.
The month with the highest number of fires was December with 35 – 15 structural and 20 non-structural – with total damage to property at P24 million.
