CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police destroyed P786-million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 428 drug personalities in the Cordillera region from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.
The Police Regional Office-Cordillera conducted 1,013 operations against illegal drugs – buy-bust operations, marijuana eradication activities, police response operations, execution of search warrants, and the serving of warrants of arrest.
These operations led to the confiscation of 2,395,479 fully grown marijuana plants, 1,190,034.86 grams of dried marijuana, 104,684 marijuana seedlings, 235.72 milliliters of marijuana oil, 3.99 grams of marijuana kush, and 23,411.07 grams of shabu, with a total standard drug price of P786,381,068.42.
The Baguio City Police Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 152, followed by the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO) with 88, Benguet PPO with 83, Abra PPO with 51, Apayao PPO with 26, and Mountain Province PPO and Ifugao PPO with 14 each.
One-hundred sixty-two were high-value individuals and 266 were street-level individuals.
Through continuous community engagement, 34 Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) were encouraged to voluntarily surrender and undergo the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) while seven PWUDs were recorded as having successfully completed the CBDRP.
