The Marikina City Police Station said the incident occurred early Sunday, Jan. 4, after the suspects, identified as “Axzel” and “Alvin,” entered the shop and pretended to inquire about the products.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed Alvin, who was wearing a cap and a pink shirt, suddenly declaring a hold-up while pointing a firearm at the store attendant.
Meanwhile, Axzel, who was wearing a white shirt, immediately took assorted items, including cash, vape products, and a speaker. The suspects then restrained the victim.
The footage also showed Axzel attempting to take the phone and tablet being held by the victim, but he was stopped by Alvin.
Afterward, Alvin extended his hand toward the victim as if to shake hands and said, “Pasensiya na, tol, ha (Sorry about that, bro),” before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The victim immediately reported the incident to the police, prompting a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of Axzel.
Recovered from his possession were items allegedly taken during the robbery, including a Brudo speaker worth P4,000, cash amounting to P5,000, two units of Ultra Device vape worth P700, and an HDMI cord measuring about 189 inches.
However, Alvin managed to evade arrest and allegedly fled with the firearm used in the crime.
Axzel is now detained at the Marikina City Police Station Custodial Facility and will face charges of robbery-holdup.
Authorities are conducting manhunt operations against the remaining suspect and assured the public of their continued efforts to maintain peace and order in the city.
