TACLOBAN CITY – The Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) reported a significant decline in overall crime incidents in 2025 compared to 2024.
Data from the Crime Incident Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS) said total crime incidents decreased by 20 percent from 475 in 2024 to 378 in 2025.
Among the eight focus crimes, robbery posted the most substantial decline, with cases dropping from 50 to 27, a 46 percent decrease.
Homicide cases also dropped from 34 to 24 while murder incidents dropped from 62 to 45, a 27 percent reduction.
Cases of physical injuries decreased from 68 to 50, while rape cases declined from 134 to 116.
Theft cases also posted a downward trend, decreasing from 113 to 101 incidents.
Police Col. Dionisio Apas Jr., LPPO director, attributed the decline in crime incidents to effective collaboration among police units, local government units, and the community, driven by enhanced police visibility, targeted law enforcement operations, timely intelligence gathering, and sustained community engagement across municipalities and cities in the province.
“The marked reduction in crime across Leyte highlights the dedication and hard work of all LPPO units. This achievement reflects our focused operations, proactive policing, and strong partnership with the community,” Apas said.
