Will Filipino singer Gwyn Dorado be the final winner on the Korean competition TV show “Sing Again 4”?

The finale of JTBC’s “Sing Again 4” will air at 10:30 p.m KST on Jan. 6 to determine the winner among four finalists.

The four finalists are Dorado, and Korean contestants Lee O-wook, Kim Jae-min and Slowly.

They will compete in a final showdown with just two performances: one of their own choice and one of new songs created by producers.

“Sing Again 4” is a music audition TV show that gives singers a second chance to sing again on stage.

Dorado, who turned 21 last Dec. 10, will perform “Light Up,” a hip-hop/R&B song produced by GroovyRoom.

"For the final performance, I'll give it my all, rather than focusing on winning,” said Dorado, Korean media reported.

Kim Jae-min will perform "Period" by Lee Mu-jin, Lee O-Wook will sing "The Way" by d.ear, and Slowly with "The Shape of Love" by Hwang Hyun.

In the first final round last Dec.30, Dorado got the highest score of 798 from the eight judges. She got a perfect score of 100 from all the judges except from Super Junior’s Kyuhyun who gave her 98.

The judges who gave Dorado perfect scores were Lim Jae-beom, Yoon Jong-shin, Baek Ji-young, Kim Eana, Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation, Lee Hae-ri and Code Kunst.

After the audience’s votes were combined, Dorado secured first place with a total score of 981, followed by Lee O-wook with 954 points, Kim Jae-min with 918, and Slowly with 840.

For the 13th and last episode of “Sing Again 4,” the final winner will be determined by a combination of the judges' scores for the cover song and new song (30 percent), the first and final round new song scores (20 percent), online pre-voting scores (10 percent), and real-time text and online voting scores (40 percent).

Viewer votes play a significant role, making it difficult to predict the winner based solely on the judges' scores and music video responses.

The final winner will receive 300 million won in cash prize (about $207,367 or P12.26 million).

Dorado's performance videos have racked up millions of views on YouTube. Her powerful voice has earned praises from the judges and Korean netizens.

Strength

Dorado, who came to Korea to make a name for herself, said, "After 'Asia's Got Talent,' I felt like there was a blank page left in my life. I felt like I had used up all the ink I could use to fill that page. 'Singer Gain 4' became a new 'pen' in my life. It allowed me to continue writing my story and gave me the opportunity to fill that page with music," according to a Korean news report.

About her strengths, Dorao cited song interpretation and immersion, saying, "Whenever I choose a song, I think I recall the moment I felt the emotion to truly express it."

When asked to choose her best performance during the competition, Dorado picked her performance of “Rebirth” by singer and judge Yoon Jong-shin.

"I was nervous because the song was high-risk, but I was happy that I was able to surprise people with my performance,” she said.

On which comment among the judges was memorable, Dorado chose Code Kunst who said, “There's someone you imagine when you sing.”

"Every time I sing, I have a goal of speaking to that special someone I've always dreamed of,” said Dorado.

As to her most formidable rival in the contest, Dorado picked Kim Jae-min, saying, "He has a crazy stage presence, and his creativity as an artist is so great that I look forward to performing on stage every time."

Lee O-wook chose Dorado, saying, "She sings so well. When I listen to Dorado's songs, I can't help but be amazed."

UST Education High School, where Dorado was a former student, said, "Let’s all cheer her on and celebrate her journey from our classrooms to the world stage."

"We are incredibly proud to share that Gwyn Dorado, a former student from UST Education High School - Dignity Batch 2021, is currently making waves on the Korean singing competition Sing Again 4!" the school stated.

It added, "From heartfelt ballads to powerhouse vocal moments, Gwyn has captured hearts and judges’ praise — advancing through multiple rounds to secure a spot in the final Top 4!"

Dorado also talked about what she wants in the future.

She said, "I feel like I've been reborn through 'Sing Gain 4,'” and expressed her desire to be called a "reincarnated singer in Korea."
