The holiday season in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) region was generally peaceful, police said Tuesday.
Calabarzon police chief Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T. Lucas said no indiscriminate firing incidents involving police personnel were recorded.
A notable decrease in firecracker-related incidents was also observed, he said. Lucas said fireworks-related incidents decreased to 35 from Dec. 16, 2025 to Jan. 1, 2026, compared to 180 from Dec. 6, 2024 to Jan. 1, 2025.
Lucas credited these to the collective efforts of the men and women of PRO 4-A and reflects their vigilance, discipline, and commitment to public safety.
“The peaceful observance of the Christmas and New Year celebrations is a clear reflection to the hard work, sense of responsibility, and high regard to discipline and obedience of our personnel on the ground to the specific instruction that any personnel who will be involved in indiscriminate firing will be dismissed from the service. I commend each and every one of you for ensuring the safety of our communities while allowing our people to celebrate with peace of mind,” Lucas said.
He recognized the cooperation of the public, noting that community awareness and responsible celebration significantly contributed to the absence of firearm-related incidents and the reduction of firecracker injuries.
Lucas reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining heightened police operations and proactive community engagement, especially during major holidays and special occasions.
