Grim discovery: Severed head of baby found in Cebu

CEBU CITY – A 54-year-old resident in Minglanilla town, Cebu province got the shock of his life when he found a puppy clutching a severed head of an infant in its jaws.
Jody Obcial thought that it was just a doll’s head that the dog was clutching when he spotted the animal on a road in Barangay Camp 7 on Monday afternoon, Jan. 5.
Obcial shooed the dog away, prompting the animal to run, leaving what it had been clutching.
He took a closer look at the object and was shocked to discover that it was actually a human head.
“Nahadlok ko uy. Wa ko kasabot sa akong gibati (I was frightened. I couldn’t understand what I felt),” Obcial said.
Obcial and neighbors alerted barangay officials about the discovery.
Police were called in. They theorized that an infant had been abandoned in the area and that the newborn baby was eaten by the dog.
After searching the area, the mother of the puppy was located. The mother dog had blood stains in the mouth and head. It was also observed that the dog’s stomach was bloated, an indication that it had eaten the infant after the baby was abandoned, police said.
Clothes believed to have been used to wrap the infant were found in the area.
Police are securing security camera footage to identify those responsible for dumping the infant.
