Globe celebrates a landmark recognition for its chief sustainability and corporate communications officer, Maria Yolanda “Yoly” Crisanto, who has been named a 2025 Distinguished Thomasian Alumni (DTAN) Awardee. This honor, given by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Alumni Association, is a testament to her pivotal role in shaping Globe’s purpose-driven transformation and her leadership in communications and sustainability.
A proud graduate of the UST Communication Arts program, Crisanto has been instrumental in embedding sustainability into Globe’s strategy long before it became an industry buzzword in the Philippines. She pioneered the company’s sustainability practice in 2009, integrating climate action and social development, into the organization’s long-term direction.
Recognizing the critical need for ethical online content, she spearheaded the multi-awarded MakeITSafePH campaign to raise awareness on cyberbullying and mental well-being. She also continues to fight online piracy through #PlayITRight, reframing it as a moral issue that protects jobs and safeguards artists.
Her leadership has strengthened Globe’s position as a trusted partner in driving social progress and climate stewardship nationwide.
Beyond her corporate achievements, Yoly actively engages in key national and industry platforms that champion inclusive growth. She serves as trustee of Ayala Foundation, a past president and board director of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), and past board director of AVIA Coalition Against Piracy.
“This recognition is for the entire Globe team whose dedication to embed sustainability at the heart of our strategy helps create a better, more inclusive future for all of us and the country. We continue our purpose-driven stewardship, deeply committed to the common good, and I am proud to champion this,” said Crisanto.
The 2025 DTAN also honored outstanding Thomasians from the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters: Faye Martel Abugan, Faculty Alumni officer and coordinator for Internationalization and Community Service, and Atty. Marivic Laurel-Garcia, deputy secretary for Legislation at the Senate of the Philippines. Their achievements underscore UST’s legacy of producing leaders who excel in communication, public service, and nation-building.
“Yoly exemplifies the Thomasian brand of leadership: compassionate, competent, and committed to the common good,” said Henry Tenedero, president of the UST Philets and Artlets Alumni Association, Inc. “Her impact at Globe and in national advocacy demonstrates how purpose-driven leadership can uplift communities and strengthen the country’s path toward sustainable development.”
Crisanto holds an MBA from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and completed the WBCSD LEAP Program with ESADE Business School and Yale University. Her recognition in the 2025 Distinguished Thomasian Alumni Awards affirms her role in reinforcing Globe’s mission to create a more inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready Philippines.
The DTAN recognizes outstanding UST alumni members for exceptional contributions to their fields and society. It is bestowed upon those who embody core Thomasian values, including competence, compassion, and integrity.
