TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 reported gains in major law enforcement campaigns in Eastern Visayas from Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025.
PRO-8 conducted 1,085 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 1,310 suspects.
Police confiscated 15 kilograms of shabu, 773.76 grams of marijuana, and 6.7 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated total value of P114 million.
In support of the government’s anti-insurgency campaign, PRO-8 facilitated the surrender of 204 members of the New People’s Army.
A total of 60 firearms and 14 explosives were surrendered and 34 communist rebels were arrested.
Seven-hundred nine illegal gambling operations resulted in the arrest of 1,891 individuals and the confiscation of P361,000 in bet money.
Police conducted 1,990 operations and arrested 3,702 violators for illegal fishing. Confiscated fish and other fishing paraphernalia were valued at P173 million.
In the fight against illegal logging, PRO-8 carried out 436 operations, resulting in the arrest of 513 individuals and the seizure of logs and other related paraphernalia worth P6.6 million.
In the campaign against loose firearms, a total of 1,768 operations were conducted, leading to the surrender of 1,345 firearms and 14 explosives, the confiscation of 249 firearms and eight explosives, and the recovery of 20 firearms and three explosives.
Intensified operations against wanted persons resulted in the arrest of 4,513 individuals – 566 most wanted persons and 3,947 other wanted persons – in 4,483 operations.
Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, PRO-8 director, commended the dedication and professionalism of the men and women of PRO-8.
“These accomplishments reflect the office’s strong commitment to public safety, rule of law, and community partnership,” he said.
He added that PRO-8 remains determined to sustain these efforts to ensure a safer, more secure Eastern Visayas.
