Mayor Isko suspends work, classes, imposes liquor and firecracker bans ahead of Traslacion 2026
Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Monday, Jan. 5, announced a series of measures to ensure safety, order, and solemnity during the Feast of the Jesus Nazarene on Jan. 9.
Through Executive Order No. 1, Series of 2026, Domagoso suspended work in all Manila city government offices and classes at all levels in public and private schools on the day of the annual Traslacion, which draws millions of devotees to the capital each year.
“Suspending work and classes allows devotees to fully participate in this important religious tradition,” Domagoso said.
Under Executive Order No. 2, Series of 2026, a liquor ban will be enforced on Jan. 9 within a 500-meter radius of Quiapo Church and along the Traslacion route.
Domagoso also signed Executive Order No. 3, Series of 2026, declaring a total ban on the manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices from Jan. 8 to 9 within Manila.
All three executive orders take effect immediately, with copies to be furnished to Malacañang as mandated under the Local Government Code of 1991.
