ILOILO CITY – The Department of Health (DOH)-6 noted a 62.3 percent decrease in firecracker-related injuries in Western Visayas region.
Data released by the DOH-6 said 26 injuries were recorded from Dec. 21 and Jan. 5, compared to 42 in the same period last year.
Children and the elderly were injured – nine cases of 10 to 11 years of age; seven cases of one to nine years of age, and three cases of 60 years and above.
They were injured by kwitis or boga with six cases each; three by triangulo, and two from whistle bombs.
Baby rocket, sky rocket, piccolo, luces, bamboo cannon, bilong bilong, and kamara also caused injuries.
