CEBU CITY – A group of Korean tourists was rescued after their motorized banca encountered engine trouble in the sea of Olango Island, Cebu on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 4.
According to the Coast Guard District Central Visayas, MBCA Black Pearl was carrying 61 Koreans when its engine failed.
The boat drifted towards San Vicente, Olango. The boat sustained a hole in the aft portion of the hull after it hit a shallow area.
Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS)-Olango received a report about the incident at 12:30 p.m. Coast Guard personnel arrived in the area at 12:40 p.m.
Five speedboats and one motorized banca transported the Koreans to Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
No one was injured during the incident.
