Hundreds of devotees carrying replicas of the Holy Nazarene gathered outside the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, to have them blessed.
The Manila City Government has issued road advisories and public reminders in preparation for the Feast of the Jesus Nazarene 2026, aimed at ensuring public safety, smooth traffic flow, and unhampered access for emergency responders.
Authorities announced that the following roads will be temporarily closed while the carriage of the Jesus Nazarene has not yet passed:
From Independence Road to Katigbak Drive
Portions of Roxas Boulevard and Padre Burgos Avenue
Ayala Bridge
The stretch of Carlos Palanca Street up to Globo de Oro
Solano Street and Padilla Street
The stretch of P. Casal Street up to Mendiola and Legarda will remain closed to give priority access to emergency vehicles and rescue operations.
Devotees heading to the Quirino Grandstand are advised to take the following routes:
Taft Avenue
Kalaw Avenue
Roxas Boulevard
Meanwhile, devotees who plan to join the Traslacion procession are strongly advised not to walk against the flow of the procession. Instead, they are urged to follow from the rear to prevent congestion and ensure safety.
Designated alternative routes have also been identified for devotees and motorists coming from various parts of the city:
Those coming from the western, northern, or España areas may pass through Quezon Bridge, McArthur Bridge, and Jones Bridge toward Padre Burgos Avenue or Intramuros.
Devotees from R10, Tondo, and western districts may use the M. Roxas Bridge or Delpan Bridge.
Those coming from the northern and eastern areas may pass through Nagtahan Bridge or Mabini Bridge, exiting toward Otis or U.N. Avenue.
Motorists are once again advised to avoid traveling toward Quiapo starting 5 p.m. on January 8, particularly routes heading south. Roads will remain closed until the celebration concludes, except for areas already cleared after the Traslacion procession has passed.
The public is encouraged to stay updated through official traffic advisories issued by the Manila City Government.
The Nazareno 2026 celebration carries the theme: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30) highlighting devotion, the Traslacion, and the mission of faith shared by millions of devotees.
