A man was arrested for attempted homicide after stabbing two individuals in Morong, Rizal on Friday night, Jan. 2.
The Morong Municipal Police Station (MPS) said the incident occurred at around 11 p.m. in Barangay San Jose and was reported by a concerned citizen at 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3.
Based on the investigation, the first victim was inside his house and sleeping when an unknown person suddenly threw an object at the house, prompting his wife to awaken him.
Authorities said the victim went outside to check and saw the suspect, identified as “John,” standing beside a post near their house.
The suspect suddenly approached him while holding an improvised icepick, prompting the victim to immediately run back inside their house.
The suspect chased him, caught up, and suddenly stabbed him without apparent reason, hitting his right arm.
Despite his injury, the victim managed to escape and ran away from the suspect.
Subsequently, police said the suspect proceeded to the house of another victim, where he also stabbed her without apparent reason, causing an injury to her left hand.
Both victims were immediately rushed by concerned citizens to the Rizal Provincial Hospital System (RPHS) in Morong for medical treatment.
The Morong MPS immediately conducted a pursuit operation that resulted in the suspect’s arrest. He is currently detained at the Morong Custodial Facility, and authorities are still investigating his motive.
